Miranda Paige Mull was arrested in Okaloosa County, Florida on Tuesday on third degree felony aggravated animal cruelty charges after authorities say she caused cruel suffering and inflicted unnecessary pain on her cat.
According to a report from the state attorney’s office, Miranda Paige Mull, 25, who had no address listed, took her cat, named Jamie, to the Animal Hospital of the Emerald Coast on Feb. 3 for a vaccination and a complaint of worms in the cat’s stool.
Mull admitted to the receptionist at the animal hospital that she had cut the microchip out of Jamie due to the adoption agency trying to follow up for a post-adoption welfare check.
After further examination, a veterinarian found the cat also had a fracture in its head and femoral bone as well as an inguinal hernia on its right side. The report said the injury was believed to be more than 72 hours old.
The veterinarian determined Jamie’s injuries were caused by blunt force trauma.
Mull is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail on a $2,000 bond. Jamie is now in the care of the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society.
